THANK YOU

Picture with the words "Thank You" appearing in multiple languages. JRS Ireland would like to acknowledge the heartfelt generosity and goodwill of the Irish public for supporting the 2017 Christmas Toy Appeal.

Over 1,200 presents were delivered to children living in Direct Provision this Christmas.

The 2017 appeal again highlighted that every child residing in Ireland deserves a present at Christmas, especially those invisible children living in Direct Provision centres across the country.

In response there was a huge outpouring of support from all sections of Irish society: including individuals; voluntary organisations; religious orders and congregations; businesses; and schools. Individual gifts were provided to over 530 asylum seeking children and teenagers residing in 10 centres (Balseskin, Hatch Hall, Georgian Court, Clondalkin Towers, Eyre Powell, Montague, Lissywollen, Kinsale Road, Old Convent and Clonakilty) and additional donated games, books and toys were provided for homework clubs, social rooms and crèches in Direct Provision centres throughout Ireland. The Toy Appeal successfully covered all Direct Provision centres not receiving gifts from other sources.

Once again, the Irish Jesuit schools were especially generous in supporting the JRS Ireland Toy Appeal. Students and staff of Belvedere College, Gonzaga College and Clongowes Wood College delivered more than 300 gifts. The St Francis Xavier parish and the Jesuit Works in the Gardiner St area also maintained their long tradition of supporting the Toy Appeal.

JRS Ireland would like to acknowledge and express our sincere thanks to all who contributed so generously to the appeal with toys and financial donations.
