Celebrations to mark the 4th. centenary of the death of Matteo Ricci  (1610 – 2010)


Saturday, May 8th.  there will be a Conference in Gonzaga College, Sandford Road, Dublin 6
Time : 9.30  - 3.00pm ( including lunch)


Four speakers will address topics such as Matteo Ricci ‘s life and work among the Chinese people, the Church in China today, and the situation of the Irish Jesuits in China today.
At 1.00pm there will be an opportunity to experience the richness of Chinese culture through music, dance and food.

Sunday, May 9th. Mass will be celebrated at 12.30 pm in St. Francis Xavier Church, Gardiner St., Dublin 1.
This will be organized by members of the Chinese community in Dublin. The celebrant will be Fr. John Dardis SJ, Provincial and the homilist will be Fr. John Hua Lee SJ, Delegate of the Provincial for China. Refreshments will be served in the Jesuit community after Mass. All welcome.

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic non-governmental organisation, founded in 1980. Its mission is to accompany, advocate and serve the cause of refugees and forcibly displaced persons worldwide. It operates at national and regional levels, with the support of an international office in Rome.
