| Asylum seeker support |
|
An important aspect of the work of JRS internationally is accompaniment. In Ireland JRS seeks to accompany persons in their journey through the Irish asylum system. This journey may take months but in most cases it is years. Staff members provide direct outreach and support to asylum seekers in hostels with the issues they are encountering in their lives. A key aspect of accompaniment is seeking to ensure the dignity of each person is respected. In particular, JRS gives priority to those whose needs are greatest. Thus, JRS Ireland gives special attention to vulnerable migrants. Outreach ensures that each person has somebody to speak to and that their story is heard. JRS Ireland actively works with other service providers to support asylum seekers with their medical, educational, legal, welfare and personal needs. |
