Outreach
Asylum seeker support

An important aspect of the work of JRS internationally is accompaniment. In Ireland JRS seeks to accompany persons in their journey through the Irish asylum system. This journey may take months but in most cases it is years. Staff members provide direct outreach and support to asylum seekers in hostels with the issues they are encountering in their lives.

A key aspect of accompaniment is seeking to ensure the dignity of each person is respected. In particular, JRS gives priority to those whose needs are greatest. Thus, JRS Ireland gives special attention to vulnerable migrants.

Outreach ensures that each person has somebody to speak to and that their story is heard. JRS Ireland actively works with other service providers to support asylum seekers with their medical, educational, legal, welfare and personal needs.

Jesuit Refugee Service

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic non-governmental organisation, founded in 1980. Its mission is to accompany, advocate and serve the cause of refugees and forcibly displaced persons worldwide. It operates at national and regional levels, with the support of an international office in Rome.
